# Read session status indicators in the Cake Agents sidebar

> Learn what the session owner's dot in the sidebar means, so you can tell at a glance which agents are working, waiting for input, errored, or archived.

Each session in the sidebar starts with a dot in the session owner's color. The dot also shows the session's status. Use it to see which agents are still working and which ones are waiting for you, without opening each session.

## Status indicators

| Indicator | Status | What it means |
| - | - | - |
| Solid dot in the owner's color | **Live** | The agent is working on a response. |
| Solid dot in the owner's color | **Initializing** | Cake is starting the session's pod. |
| Hollow dot outlined in the owner's color | **Idle** | The pod is running and the agent is waiting for your input. |
| Solid dot inside a yellow square frame | **Error** | The session's pod failed. |
| Muted gray dot | **Archived**, **Ending**, **Missing**, or **Deleted** | The session is no longer running. |

Hover the dot to see who owns the session. Screen readers announce the status as **Session status: \<status>**.

The indicator updates live. When an agent finishes a turn, its dot changes from solid to hollow. That's your cue to review the result or send the next message.

<Tip>
  To list only sessions with a given status, use the **By Status** filter in the sidebar. See [Archive sessions](/user/archive-sessions#find-archived-sessions).
