# Connect your account to MCP servers

> Connect your own account to the MCP servers your organization enabled so Cake agents can call their tools on your behalf in your sessions.

Your organization's admins choose which MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers are available in Cake Agents. Before an agent can use a server's tools in your sessions, you connect your own account to it. The agent then acts with your permissions on that service.

## Prerequisites

* An admin has added at least one MCP server. See [Add MCP servers for your organization](/admin/mcp-servers).
* You have an account with the service behind the MCP server.

## Connect a server

1. Open **User settings → MCP Connectors**.
2. Find the server and select **Connect**.
3. Sign in to the service and approve access.

The service redirects you back to **MCP Connectors**, and Cake shows a notification with the result. The server now shows a **Connected** badge.

If the page shows **No servers yet**, your organization hasn't added any MCP servers.

## Use connected servers in sessions

In your sessions, the agent can call tools from every server you've connected. Each tool name is prefixed with the server name that the admin chose, for example `Notion.search`. Ask the agent to use the service directly:

```text theme={null}
Search Notion for the Q3 launch plan and summarize the open risks.
```

The agent only uses your connections, never another user's. Servers you haven't connected don't contribute any tools.

If a connection is missing or has expired, the tool call returns a message such as:

```text theme={null}
The MCP server "Notion" is not connected. Connect it in your MCP Connectors settings to use its tools.
```

Open **User settings → MCP Connectors** and connect or reconnect the server, then ask the agent to try again.

## Disconnect a server

1. Open **User settings → MCP Connectors**.
2. Select **Disconnect** next to the server.

Agents in your sessions can no longer call that server's tools until you connect again.
