# Set default repositories for new sessions

> Save the GitHub repositories you work in most so Cake preselects them in the Working in picker every time you start a new session.

Default repositories are the GitHub repos Cake preselects in the **Working in** picker on the **New session** screen. Save a default when you usually start sessions in the same repo or set of repos. You don't have to pick them again each time.

Defaults are personal. Your saved defaults don't affect anyone else in your organization.

## Prerequisites

* Your organization has the GitHub integration set up. See [GitHub setup](/admin/github-setup).

## Choose repositories for a session

1. Go to **New session**.
2. Open the **Working in** picker.
3. Search for a repo, then select it to add it to the session. Select it again to remove it.

The picker shows the first selected repo, plus a `+n` badge when you've selected more than one. Hover the picker to see the full list. Select the × to clear every selected repo.

## Save a default

1. Open the **Working in** picker.
2. Hover a repo in the repo list and select **Make default**.

The repo moves into the **Default** section at the top of the dropdown. Repeat for each repo you want preselected. You can save up to 20 default repos.

After you create a session, Cake resets the picker to your saved defaults for the next one.

## Remove a default

1. Open the **Working in** picker.
2. Hover a repo in the **Default** section and select **Remove default**.

When you remove your last default, the picker starts empty for new sessions.

## Know when your defaults are selected

The picker shows a **Default** label next to the repo name when your selection exactly matches your saved defaults. If you add or remove a repo for a single session, the label disappears. Your saved defaults stay the same.

When your selection exactly matches your defaults, the selection follows your default changes:

* Selecting **Make default** on a repo also selects it for the current session.
* Selecting **Remove default** on a repo also deselects it for the current session.
